D&AD Collaboration

In order to bring my idea for the D&AD student award DCM CInema brief to life I must source a music producer. In order to achieve this I have written up a brief to be sent to Leeds College of Music, so that I might find another artist to collaborate with.

Context:
Hello, my name is Tom Stephens, a third year studying Digital Film, Games and Animation at Leeds college of Art. I am currently undertaking a live brief from the D&AD student awards, and would like to collaborate with a music producer. The design brief is for DCM Cinema a leader in UK cinema advertising, who provides 2906 screens at 467 sites for advertisers; sites such as ODEON, Cineworld, Vue, Picturehouse and many independent cinemas.
Brief:
“Create a 25 second ident for Digital Cinema Media (DCM) and fill it with your creative interpretation of the true power of cinema. You will need to visualise emotion, literally showing how film feels.
The DCM ident is one of the first and last things that people see when going to watch a film.
It needs to set the scene and have an impact. Something that illustrates and celebrates the emotion we all feel when we take our seats and enter the magical world of the movies.
Go BIG – big concepts, big ideas, big executions. Something authentic, genuine and extraordinary to make the big screen come to life before the eyes of cinemagoers.
Turn your great ideas into screen icons.”

I am currently in the process of producing Organic Visual effect in a cloud tank environment, using colours and their natural movement in water to emulate different genres. However, I am in need of a music producer to reinforce which colours represent each genre.
Your job will be to create 3 seconds of music for 7 different genres, including:
Romance,
Comedy,
Action/Adventure,
Horror,
Western,
Fantasy,
Sci-fi
As well as 4 seconds of music for the final stage of the ident sequence, where I will composite the DCM logo over the movement of the logos 3 main colours.
To conclude I need 3 seconds of music for 7 genres and 4 seconds of music to embody the DCM logo to make up the 25 second ident.
